The partly valid criticism of AI use isn't going away. We'd like to focus on the positive: AI image generators are being used to visually recreate historical figures and scenes – helping researchers and students alike.

AI in history lessons

The human brain demonstrably grasps images better than words. AI makes it possible to bring historical moments and people into the present. The German broadcaster ZDF's series “Deepfake Diaries” brought eyewitnesses back to life using AI – an impressive example.

Opportunities and challenges

A delicate touch is needed: data protection must be considered, and AI-generated content must be checked for accuracy. Can pupils tell fact from fiction? This is a huge opportunity for critical media literacy.

AI in other subjects

In art class, AI can turn landscape panoramas into living scenes. In language and literature, authors could be “personally” asked what they wanted to express in their works.
