Sovereign – even without your own data centre
KOSMO runs by default in a data centre in Lübeck certified to ISO 27001. You get full data sovereignty without buying servers, installing updates or assigning IT staff. If you need the processing in your own building, you take KOSMO On-Premise.

Why “hosted” here does not mean “US cloud”
When we warn about US cloud services, the issue is not third-party operation as such – it is who can legally gain access. As US corporations, US providers are subject to the CLOUD Act, which can give authorities access even to data in European data centres. That route of access simply does not exist here: Splitbot is a German company and runs KOSMO in a German data centre.
On top of that comes what applies to KOSMO anyway: no API calls to US providers, no training with your content, a source reference for every answer, and open, interchangeable language models. Our running it changes none of that – it only takes the hardware off your hands.
KOSMO or KOSMO On-Premise
Both routes are data-sovereign. The difference lies in who runs it.

Frequently asked questions about operation
Where does KOSMO run if we have you operate it?
In a data centre certified to ISO 27001 in Lübeck – that is, in Germany, run by a German company. There is no processing by US providers and therefore no transfer to a third country.
Do we need our own hardware or IT staff?
No. Operation, updates, monitoring and backups are on us. All you need is a browser – and you can start right away instead of procuring servers first.
Isn't that also “the cloud” – with the same problems?
The decisive difference is who can legally gain access. As US corporations, US providers are subject to the CLOUD Act, even with servers in Europe. Splitbot is a German company and runs KOSMO in a German data centre – that route of access does not exist here.
Can we switch to on-premise later?
Yes. KOSMO On-Premise is the same software on your own infrastructure. Because KOSMO builds on open, interchangeable models and the source code is public, there is no vendor lock-in blocking a move.
Is our content used for training?
No. Your documents and inputs do not feed into model training – neither with us nor with third parties. They serve solely to answer your own questions.
